Ashforth Elected Chairman, Carpenter Named Vice Chair
At the 123rd Annual Meeting, the Board of Directors announced the appointment of Tom Ashforth to Chairman.
Since coming onto the Board of Directors in 2003, Tom’s leadership and strategic input has helped Family Centers make a greater impact in the community. In addition to previously serving as Vice Chairman, Tom co-chairs the Facilities Committee and serves on Family Centers’ Governance and Families In Crisis committees. He was also instrumental in creating the agency’s 2014-2016 Strategic Directions.
Tom has also been involved in numerous special events and fundraisers. His wife, Brooke, also co-chaired three of Family Centers’ most successful benefits. Tom currently works as a Principal at Transwestern Commerical Real Estate in Greenwich.
Tom succeeds Laurie Host, who held the position over the past three years. During her tenure, Laurie oversaw the facilitation of Family Centers’ merger with Literacy Volunteers in 2012 and helped strengthen many other facets of the organization.
The Board of Directors also elected Leigh Carpenter to Vice Chairman. Leigh has chaired several fundraising events, including 2007’s Castaway and 2010’s Coney Island benefits. She also is the co-chair of the Families in Crisis Center of Excellence Committee, and sits on the Development, Special Events and Community Relations committees.
