Parents as Co-Educators Program
The purpose of the program is to improve outcomes in early childhood education, as well as the socio-economic advancement, of at-risk residents of Stamford’s Vita Health and Wellness District. Through complimentary efforts supported by an alliance of sponsoring entities, the program aims to improve total, measurable outcomes for a small group of three-to five-year-old children and their families enrolled in CLC's early childhood educational programs in Stamford.
By engaging parents as “co-educators” of their young children, this initiative aims to cause a measurable reduction of disparities in public school readiness, thereby impacting key causes of the achievement gap.
Supportive services are offered through in-home visits by a team of trained professionals. Program elements include education focused parenting education, case management, literacy/ESL (English as a Second Language) support and referral services
