Dixon, Campos Named Family Champions by CCFSA
Family Centers’ board member Helen Dixon and staff member Andre Campos were recognized as “Family Champions” by the Connecticut Council of Family Service Agencies (CCFSA) for their outstanding commitment to improving the lives of families.
At a ceremony held at the Trumbull Marriot on May 8, the CCFSA honored Dixon, Campos and 28 other human services professionals and volunteers whose unselfish actions have strengthened families in Connecticut.
Since joining the Board more than 40 years ago, Dixon has always been one of the first to roll up her sleeves and lend a hand wherever she is needed. She is a former Board Chairman and has provided support and guidance to children coping with the loss of a loved one as a volunteer with The Den for Grieving Kids.
As the co-chair Family Centers’ Families In Crisis Committee, Dixon also helps shape the direction of the agency’s programs that provide support, counseling and intervention services to families in need. She has also co-chaired the agency’s Early Childhood Education Committee.
For more than 14 years, Campos has been a trusted resource residents of the greater Stamford area with HIV/AIDS could turn to for the medical support and general encouragement they need to live healthier lives. Whether assisting with securing stable housing, monitoring the proper use of medication or organizing toy drives at Christmastime for needy children, Campos is always there for his clients.
