School Based Health Centers Celebrates its Success at Open House
In recognition of National School-Based Health Care Awareness Month, Family Centers hosted an Open House at its School Based Health Center at Westhill High School in Stamford. Area legislators, donors and supporters attended the event to meet the staff, tour the facility and hear from students about the ways School Based Health Centers have impacted their lives.
For many students enrolled in Stamford Public Schools, the School Based Health Centers are their only resource for primary medical, dental and mental health services. Last year alone, more than 1,150 children were served by Family Centers' six Health Centers.
The School Based Health Centers are staffed by nurse practioners, social workers, psychiatrists and psychologists. Complete dental services are also provided by a licensed dentist and dental hygienist.
