May 30, 2013 - Family Centers Officially Open Refurbished Preschool Activity Room and Art Center
On Thursday, May 29, Family Centers held a special ceremony to officially open the newly renovated art center and activity room at its Arch Street Preschool.
The centerpiece of the redesign is the school’s multi-purpose activity room, which is affectionally called "Abbey's Room". Featuring plenty of space, the activity room will be used to hold special assemblies, dance/music classes and other activities. The room also includes an intricate mural painted by Greenwich residents Nina Weil and Liz Van Duyne.
The new art center features an open layout, which can easily accommodate the preschool’s classes during art time. Custom cabinets were also built to house all of the school’s art supplies. In addition to redesigning the activity center and art room, Family Centers also refurbished the school’s downstairs corridor to provide a more welcoming atmosphere for students and families.
The project was spearheaded by Family Centers’ Board Members Mary Moran, Julie Graham and Helen Dixon. Design work was provided by George Penniman Architects. LLC, while contractual services were provided by Hobbs, Inc.
