Volunteers Honored at Annual Meeting
 At its 128th Annual Meeting, Family Centers honored three volunteers whose contributions improved the lives of thousands of children and families across Fairfield County. The event was held Thursday, Oct. 24 at First Presbyterian Church in Greenwich.
Longtime Family Centers Board member Mary Moran was presented with the 2019 Helen Gratz Rockefeller Outstanding Volunteerism Award. Traditionally reserved for a current or former member of Family Centers’ Board of Directors, the award is the agency’s highest volunteer honor.
Over her seven years as a Board Trustee, Moran has focused her attention on the maintenance, improvement and accessibility of Family Centers’ locations throughout lower Fairfield County. Moran’s vision, expertise and good taste were essential in creating inviting and functional meeting space at Family Centers’ Executive Offices in Greenwich. She also spearheaded the renovation of the Grauer Preschool – creating optimal learning spaces for young children. Moran is currently leading a project to make Family Centers clinical offices in Greenwich ADA compliant.
 For more than a decade, Lisa Coppotelli, Helene Cote and the Mitchells Westport staff have put smiles on the faces of children whose parents are living with HIV/AIDS. Each year, Coppotelli and Cote ensure that every child that is part of Family Centers’ Stamford CARES program receive holiday gifts, birthday presents and fully-loaded backpacks. All gifts are donated by Mitchells Westport, and provide much-needed joy to children affected by this serious virus. In recognition of Coppotelli and Cote’s coordination, commitment and compassion, Family Centers named them its 2018 Anne Firestone Ball Family Champion.
Family Centers’ Annual Meeting was a celebration of the organization’s accomplishments over the past year, and was attended by Family Centers’ Board of Directors, Senior Advisors, staff and supporters.
Family Centers is a private, nonprofit organization offering heath, education and human services to children, adults and families in Fairfield County. More than 200 professionals and 1,200 trained volunteers work together to provide a wide range of responsive, innovative programs. A United Way, Community Fund of Darien and New Canaan Community Foundation partner agency, Family Centers is a member of the Connecticut Council of Family Service Agencies and is accredited by The Joint Commission and the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
