Family Centers Teachers to Present at Statewide Early Childhood Conference
Three teachers with Family Centers’ Early Care and Education (ECE) program were recently selected to speak at the Connecticut Association for the Education of Young Children (CAEYC) in Cromwell on Oct. 17-18.
Alex Fichter, site manager of Family Centers’ Joan Melber Warburg Early Childhood Center, and Warburg Center teacher Ashley Belluzzi will lead a discussion on sensory exploration in infant & toddler classroom.
Having worked with infants and toddlers for the past seven years, Fichter and Belluzzi noticed a growing number of children experiencing sensory issues. By sharing their observations and offering teaching strategies, Fichter and Belluzzi will help teachers identify and intervene with sensory issues.
Cecily Greaves, a teacher at Family Centers’ Gateway Preschool, will discuss the power of mediation and show teachers how they can incorporate it into their daily lives.
With four sites in Greenwich – the Joan Melber Warburg Early Childhood Center, Arch Street Preschool, Gateway Preschool and First Steps at Armstrong Court – Family Centers offers quality early childhood education services for the community.
As the state affiliate of the National Association for the Education of Young Children, the mission of the Connecticut Association for the Education of Young Children (CAEYC) is to enhance the care, education, and development of Connecticut's young children, in the context of family, and community; and to support the professionals who care for them.
