Family Centers announced today that its four preschool programs in Greenwich were all reaccredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
After an extensive self-study and visits by NAEYC assessors, it was determined that Family Centers’ Arch Street Preschool, Gateway Preschool, Joan Melber Warburg Early Childhood Center and Head Start/School Readiness programs located at Armstrong Court met all NAEYC accreditation standards for early childhood education excellence. Family Centers’ programs scored 100 percent or better in most areas.
To earn NAEYC accreditation, Family Centers’ staff measured its programs and their services against NAEYC’s 10 Early Childhood Program Standards and more than 400 related accreditation criteria. Family Centers’ programs scored 100 percent or better in most areas. The NAEYC accreditation is valid through 2020.
“Attaining NAEYC accreditation reaffirms to the community and our staff that Family Centers is committed to ongoing evaluation and the continuous improvement of our programs,” said Megan Sweeney, Director of Family Centers’ Early Childhood Education and Head Start programs. “We are very proud of the entire Early Childhood Education team’s accomplishments, and look forward to continuing to provide a high quality, nurturing and state-of-the art program to working parents.”
Family Centers is now accepting applications for the 2015-2016 school year beginning in September. For information or to schedule a tour, contact Celeida Assante at 203-629-2822 or email cassante@familycenters.org.
Accreditation by the NAEYC is widely recognized as a sign of high-quality early childhood education. Only 8 percent of the nation’s preschools earn NAEYC’s stamp of approval. In Greenwich, Family Centers represents one of only two NAEYC accredited full-day, year-round preschool programs.
Family Centers’ Early Childhood Education programs offer full or part-time care for young children at four accredited facilities in Greenwich. The Arch Street Preschool, Gateway Preschool and School Readiness program help children ages three to five prepare for kindergarten through learning, socialization and play. The Gateway Preschool also offers a class for two-year-olds. The Joan Melber Warburg Early Childhood Center provides nurturing care for children ages six-weeks to two-years.
